Flex vs Vinyl vs Fabric: Which Print Material for Your Exhibition Stall?

Home / Blog / Flex vs Vinyl vs Fabric: Which Print Ma…

Hand the same artwork to a printer and ask for it in flex, vinyl and fabric, and you will get three prints that look — and cost — very differently. Most stall branding mistakes are really material mistakes: the right design in the wrong medium. Here is the practical breakdown we give our exhibition clients.

Flex (frontlit)

The workhorse. PVC-coated banner material printed on large-format solvent machines.

  • Cost: from ₹20 per sq.ft for printing; from ₹45 per sq.ft mounted on octonorm structures.
  • Strengths: cheapest per square foot, prints huge sizes seamlessly, weather-resistant, same-day turnaround.
  • Weaknesses: visible texture up close; can reflect glare under hall lighting; reads "budget" on premium stalls.
  • Use it for: large back walls, outdoor facades, gate arches, banners above eye level — anywhere viewed from 3+ metres.

Self-adhesive vinyl

A sticker-backed print that mounts flush onto sunboard, ACP, glass or octonorm panels.

  • Cost: from ₹50 per sq.ft printed; from ₹55 per sq.ft as panel branding.
  • Strengths: sharp detail, rich colour, smooth seamless finish — the standard for professional stall walls.
  • Weaknesses: needs a rigid surface behind it; skilled application matters (bubbles show).
  • Use it for: stall wall panels, reception desks, glass branding, floor decals, anything visitors see from arm's length.

Fabric (dye-sublimation)

Polyester fabric with the ink infused into the fibre, stretched over frames or hung as backdrops.

  • Strengths: zero glare (cameras love it), elegant matte finish, folds into a bag for reuse across shows, hides minor frame imperfections.
  • Weaknesses: higher cost than flex; colours are softer than vinyl; needs a stretch-frame system.
  • Use it for: photo/media walls, conference backdrops, premium feature walls, stalls that travel to multiple shows.

The best stalls mix materials deliberately: flex where size matters, vinyl where detail matters, fabric where cameras point, and one lit element for the brand. Want us to spec this for your stall?
